Title: Wave and Current Measurements - Selecting the Right Methods
Aanderaa offers three different methods to measure waves. From buoys, with the accelerometer based Motus sensor. From underwater installations where the acoustic Doppler Current Profiling Sensor automatically switch between broad band and narrow band to optimise wave direction and wave height data quality. The ultrasensitive, compact, pressure based wave sensor provides cm wave height information from 40 m depth. In this presentation the three different methods will be compared with each other and with dedicated wave buoys. Their advantages and shortcomings will be discussed and best practices to measure waves and currents from floating platforms and underwater installations will be presented.
